I
want to share a story!
My husband and I got married
Jan. 12, 1969, just three weeks after he returned from a year
of fighting in Viet Nam. We were sent immediately to Ft. Hood,
TX, 800 miles from our home. August of that year we went home
to Alabama & Georgia to visit our folks. The route led us
through New Orleans where we spent a night and visited Pat O'Brien's.
I was wearing an orange
cocktail dress which, at that time, being just above the knee
was as risque' as nice girls dared to wear. Well, we sat at
a table at Pat O'Brien's to enjoy a "hurricane", and
I never thought about the condensation from the glass dripping
all over the front of my dress. When we stood up to leave several
hours later, my dress had shrunk up several inches shorter than
before. We joked the rest of the night about me applying for
a job at one of the bars since I already had a good start on
the outfit. Funny how times
change. Today I'd probably think the shrunken version of that
dress was too long.
