Pat OBriens Celebrates 70th Anniversary
On Wednesday, December 3, San Antonio will join in a
nationwide celebration of Pat OBriens 70th Anniversary
with a party that will rival Mardi Gras! Pat OBriens
will offer amazing specials all day, like $3.50 Hurricanes and
$1.50 beer, wine, and mixed drinks. Spin 66, a local rock band,
will perform in the Patio from 8pm to 11pm and the Piano Lounge
entertainers will also be performing from 7pm to 2am. Pat OBriens
mascot, the Hurricane Man, will be handing out birthday cake
along with some goodies. The first 150 customers will receive
a red special edition Hurricane glass. The restaurant will be
offering New Orleans classics such as Muffalettas, Alligator
Bites, and Bloody Mary Wings.
We are truly grateful for all of those people
who have supported Pat OBriens throughout the years
and
look forward to many more decades of Having Fun, says Shelly
Oechsner Waguespack, a vice president of Pat OBriens.
In addition to its gratitude to the community, Pat OBriens
will also take an opportunity to appreciate a local charity.
During the party, Pat OBriens will be selling raffle
tickets to win a beautiful party for 100 people in its private
party area, the Briars Suite. The party is valued at $5,000
as it includes open premium bar and gourmet catering for 3 hours.
Although Pat OBriens is new to San Antonio,
it has a long history in New Orleans. Its history dates back
to the days of prohibition in the 1930s. Pat OBrien operated
a speakeasy in the French Quarter, whose doors only opened to
those who knew the password, Storms Brewin.
When Prohibition was repealed in 1933, Mr. OBrien opened
his now legal drinking establishment on St. Peter Street.
San Antonio is the fifth city to welcome Pat OBriens.
The first franchise opened in Cancun in 1991. Orlando and Memphis
followed in 1999 and 2002, respectively. All five locations
will be celebrating this exciting historic event on December
3, 2003.
