Alamo City meets the Crescent City!
NEW ORLEANS -- The long anticipated arrival of Pat O'Brien's
in San Antonio is now a reality. Located at 121 Alamo Plaza in
the cradle of Texas liberty, Pat O's Bar and Restaurant is proud
to be a part of the Lone Star State.
Since 1933, Pat O'Brien's has been the place to go in New
Orleans! Millions visit the famed Bar and Restaurant each year
with one objective, to EAT, DRINK and HAVE FUN!
Pat O's is known for the Hurricane Drink. During World War
II there was a short supply of distilled spirits because the
grains and sugar needed to produce spirits went to troops abroad.
There was, however, a large supply of rum coming into the Port
of New Orleans from the Caribbean. Bar owners were forced to
buy large cases of rum in order to get one case of scotch or
whiskey, for example. The experts at Pat O'Brien's began experimenting
and the fruity concoction was finally perfected. Shortly after,
a glass shaped like a hurricane lamp was paired with the drink
and Pat O'Brien's Hurricane was a hit!
Pat O'Brien's San Antonio, just like it's counterpart in New
Orleans, features a beautiful patio with the famous flaming fountain,
lush foliage and an impressive mural of The Riverwalk and San
Antonio skyline. Clap your hands, stomp your feet and sing a
long, too, in the Piano Bar. Entertainers will captivate you
while playing on two copper topped pianos. The Main Bar on the
2nd floor has the feeling of an old neighborhood bar where everybody
knows your name.
In the Courtyard, Have Fun dining on New Orleans cuisine such
as crawfish etouffee, shrimp remolade, muffaletta sandwiches,
jambalaya, or great hamburgers and delicious steaks.
The Briars Suite is an impressive banquet facility decorated
in old world style with iron chandeliers, massive fireplace mantels,
antiques, beautiful faux painted walls and hard wood floors.
Large windows overlook the Alamo Plaza and a large balcony overlooks
the Patio Courtyard with it's flaming fountain.
"I am extremely excited about the opening of Pat O' Briens's
San Antonio." George "Sonny" Oechsner said. "The
city's effort to further enhance the tourist/convention market
is thrilling. Also, it is imperative that our concept is embraced
by locals. San Antonians like to have fun, and that's what we
are all about!"
Pat O'Brien's San Antonio is the company's fifth location.
Others are located in New Orleans, Cancun, Mexico, Orlando, and
Memphis.
